Chihuahua Rescue & Sanctuary,
Burbank, California - Friends We are people who love and admire the oldest breed
of canine in North America, the Chihuahua. We are here to discuss, share
photos, ask advice or chat about any topic related to this noble and, unfortunately,
most oftenly abused and abandoned of all breeds.

With my resources and experience, I can do a lot
to protect and help as many as I can. Others, such as Kimi Peck and Chihuahua
Rescue, do things on even larger scale and that is why I help them, but
even so, as Kimi once said (paraphrasing), we are just a Band-Aid for the
problem. -- Patty
I owe my special Willow to Kimi. I owe Willow's daughter,
Charlie, who I adopted later to Kimi. I owe much of the love and happiness
that surrounds my life with these two dogs to Kimi Peck... I've never met
a person more giving than Kimi. -- Lee T. Warner
I have volunteered with Chihuahua Rescue when time allows
as I have my own rescue group, and I want to add that nothing is more fulfilling
than seeing what this wonderful lady has done with so many forgotten, tortured,
starved and beaten dogs. Bless you Kimi Peck, I know the dogs bless you
each and every day. No one could ever give what you give. No one could
ever do what you do. I am just thrilled that I am able to give assistance
when I can... -- Marcus Washington - President, We Save Doggies
The reason that Chihuahua Rescue has been able to save
the numbers of dogs it has is primarily because of the president and founder's,
Kimi Peck's, modest resources which she selflessly devotes to saving dogs
at her own sacrifice and expense. Our volunteer CPA is continually writing
grants and CR gets its share, but it barely puts a dent in the operating
expenses involved with caring for 100's of dogs on a growing basis. Private
contributions help immensely, but even between the two, it wouldn't be
enough without Ms. Peck's personal devotion to abused, abandoned and discarded
dogs. -- Dave
When we were looking to adopt, we had in mind two females.
My parents being older - a puppy that needed guidance was out of the question.
Although all our four dogs previously were raised from being puppies --
we need older dogs this time. I looked at Pet Finder.com and found there
was a Chihuahua Rescue -- in Burbank. I realized that when I visited the
Chi Rescue not all the dogs are on the website. There were so many to choose
from! Then I saw two spunky cuties that had just come in -- owner turned
in dogs, leftovers from a litter (Thelma & Louise). For five months,
I had these two in mind. My parents (who would be the owners) were going
on an extended vacation so adoption wasn't immediate, but I wanted to look
at rescue. I was impressed with the care and love these dogs received.
You saw dogs of different ages and different situations. I was confident
that this was a good place. When the time came, I took my mother to the
Chi Rescue and Thelma and Louise were still there! But fate would have
it, that these two had a terrible case of sibling rivalry and could not
be adopted together. It was such a disappointment. For months I would visit
and see them there -- I kept thinking it was fate that they were still
at the rescue even five months later! Kimi then directed us to these two
little ones that were curled up in the cage -- shaky & frightened.
We didn't pay too much attention to them (one seems to pay attention to
the perky ones first), but my mom held one and the little chi licked her
face. It was love! I held the other. Here we were a mother and daughter
looking for two little dogs who also turned out to be mother and daughter!
...so there is the story of Mia (Mamma Mia) and Chiquita (the little one).
Sometimes I think we should have named them Queenie and Princess! -- Jackie
